Pyrography or pyrogravure is the art of decorating wood or other materials with burn marks resulting from the controlled application of a heated object such as a poker. It is also known as wood burning. Pyrography dates from the 17th century and reached its highest standard in the 19th century.
The artist, Ryan Faller, uses a variety of different types and sizes of locally fallen wood as well as reclaimed wood. This creates a small carbon footprint and gives new life and purpose to the materials he uses for creating his artwork and commissions.Ryan completes his commissions at his home studio located in rustic Humboldt County, CA. He is surrounded by natural inspiration which leads to some truly unique freehand designs
